Agreement
By creating an account or using LiveVault (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.
Who we are
LiveVault is operated by the LiveVault team (“we,” “us”). Reach us at hello@livevault.app.
The Service
LiveVault is a free music streaming app that surfaces live Grateful Dead recordings hosted by the Internet Archive. The Grateful Dead have an official policy permitting the free sharing of their live recordings; the Archive hosts this collection with the band’s permission.
LiveVault does not host, own, or re-encode the underlying audio files. We stream them directly from the Archive. Your access to the recordings is also subject to the Archive’s terms of use.
Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old (or your local equivalent).
- You’re responsible for keeping your credentials secure.
- You’re responsible for activity under your account.
- You can delete your account any time from the app or by emailing us.
Free tier & Pro tier
LiveVault’s core streaming is free and intended to stay that way. Certain features (AI tools, advanced downloads, etc.) may be part of a paid Pro subscription. Pro subscriptions are billed through Apple or our payment processor and governed by their respective terms. You can cancel at any time; you retain Pro access through the end of the billing period you’ve paid for.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to violate any law, including copyright laws.
- Attempt to rip, re-host, or re-distribute audio files served through the app.
- Scrape, reverse-engineer, or automate the Service in a way that burdens our infrastructure or the Archive’s.
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other users.
- Upload illegal, infringing, hateful, or sexually exploitative content (including in notes, playlists, profile names, or community features).
- Use the Service to build a competing dataset or model.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules. We’ll try to be reasonable about it.
User content
“User content” means the playlists, notes, display names, reviews, and community posts you create inside LiveVault. You keep ownership of your content. By submitting it, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and transmit it as part of running the Service.
You’re responsible for your content. Don’t post things you don’t have rights to, and don’t post things that violate the acceptable-use rules above.
Intellectual property
The LiveVault app, brand, logo, and design are ours. You’re welcome to link to us and talk about us. You’re not welcome to clone the app, copy our branding, or imply endorsement you don’t have.
The recordings themselves are owned by the Grateful Dead (or relevant rights holders) and hosted by the Internet Archive under the Dead’s sharing policy. LiveVault does not grant you any rights to the recordings beyond streaming them through the app.
Copyright complaints
If you believe content on LiveVault infringes your copyright, email copyright@livevault.app with a description of the work, the allegedly infringing content, your contact information, and a good-faith statement. We comply with the DMCA and equivalent laws.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We don’t guarantee uninterrupted, error-free service, and we’re dependent on the Internet Archive’s availability. We disclaim all warranties to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, LiveVault is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability in any matter is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you’ve paid us in the prior 12 months, or (b) $100 USD.
Termination
You can stop using LiveVault and delete your account any time. We can suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (IP, disclaimers, limitations of liability, governing law) will survive.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes will be resolved in state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app and via email. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
